{locus animae, a festival of contemporary art

From Friday 22nd July to Sunday 7th August, the foyer of Kursaal, in piazza Brescia will host Locus Animae. This is an event that leads the artist to creative expression that encourages one to encounter art in the home of the soul.
This year, 2011, sees the sixth edition of what is now a contemporary art festival. Locus Animae transforms a place and is not only an exhibition, but also a festival of theatre, music and words. The subtitle of Locus Animae is ‘Biennale Out Off’, alluding to the idea that an artist is slightly removed, avoiding easy consensus but favouring the idea of finding a meeting place for different cultures, expressions and languages. This edition sees the start of a partnership with the Benandanti port and with the poetry festival Notturni Di Versi.
Artists exhibiting their works this year are Saturno Buttò, Roberta Coni, Sergio Curtacci, Ignazio Fresu, Chris Gilmour, Cristina Iotti, Jara Marzulli, Stefano Momentè, Rocco Normanno, Roberta Padovani, Silvio Porzionato, Vania Elettra Tam and Mattia Trotta. They are united by that place of the soul from which art should always pour. There is a packed programme of associated events that is continually being updated, beginning with the opening at 7pm on Friday 22nd July, in the presence of all the artists. On Wednesday 27th July at 9pm Salvatore Cacace, accompanied on the guitar by Gianandrea Fasan will present “Molotov dal cielo”. Friday 29th July at 9pm sees “Ciò che è stato è ciò che sarà, lettura teatrale”. On Friday 5th August at 9pm, Piero Simon Ostan accompanied by “Le cose sicure” will present “Pieghevole per pendolare precario”. And on Sunday 7th August, the closing event will be a theatrical reading for multiple voices. Opening times: from 8pm – 11 pm. he sixth edition of Locus Animae redesigns this circumstance, this meeting place between different artists and different worlds and encourages us to think of how the soul (the psyche) is the time and the subject that leads to move, through breath, the ars, or the act of doing. The sixth edition of the Locus Animae project transforms the place and is not just an exhibition, but a festival of theatre, performance and words. It is a multiple return to what took place in Out Off, which in 1976 in Milan, produced the historic experience of the avant-garde Out Off theatre, now Teatro Stabile di Innovazione. Like a journey through time, a return to what has been signals what is to come.
This edition sees the beginning of a partnership with the Benandanti port and with the poetry festival Notturni Di Versi.
